  • The chick in the cube next to mine just found out that one of her cohorts is getting married. I'm listening to her make false-giddy phone calls about the hot gossip to all the rest of her friends, and to all the women in the office. Cue the usual valley girl drivel, tinged with venomous wedding envy. Also overheard that the suckers in question only met each other recently, are both barely 23, and one lives in Canada. They're in luuurve. Bahaha. If i weren't so amused by the stupidity of the situation, i'd be feeling stabby about having to hear about it.

  • STOP----you're killing your own karma.   I say no more mumbling and grumbling---kwee serra serra.  Somebody's got to keep 'shallow' going.  Cosmically it's needed so that there's something to rise above.  'Sides, you should be doodling and humming show tunes(oops-nevermind- that's what I do).  Smile and be nice,  it'll make them wonder what you're up to.  TTFN

  • Jobs like that are designed to bring you to the very edge of sanity. I was working in an art auction house for a summer in NY (no, I didn't get to hang out with the art, administrative b.s. only) and all the girls in the office were Vassar or Wesleyan grads with names like Alita Lune Wainsworth and Lucretia Downings-Speedley (names changed to equally ridiculous names to protect the wealthy and privileged). The drivel they spouted included more multi-syllabic words, but was just as banal as the valley gals you work next to...

  • Karma, schmarma. I am only acknowledging what the universe has presented me with, and making note of it for later comparison once i am living a happy, relatively drivel-free existence. And yes, even the Drivelous have their place in the world. I will look back on this and say, "ha, yes, and this is why i shall never again work at an ordinary job" and that will be that.

    Oh, and practically ALL the women here have two last names. I knew i had to quit when i started wondering whether i should get an extra name, too.
