  • Bring on da feist, day 2.

Saw F9/11 last night.  Today:  I have things to do.

But first, a thought from Sting, who sang this at the concert tuesday:

"...There's a war on our democracy
    A war on our dissent
    There's a war inside religion
And what Jesus might have meant

There's a war on mother nature
    A war upon the seas
There's a war upon the forests
On the birds and the bees

    There's a war on education
    A war on information
    A war between the sexes
    And every nation

    A war on our compassion
    A war on understanding
A war on love and life itself
    It's war that they're demanding

    Make it easy on yourself
    And don't do nothing."

I was looking up some grants for guerrilla art today. Yes, that's right, there are organizations that will give you money to make art which bothers people.

I was thinking of starting a little coalition. Since there are so many bored/ disgruntled art kids around here...it shouldn't be too hard.

    Artists for Creative Terrorism.

Of course, the means would be entirely unviolent, but just bothersome enough to make people think. It would probably be a whole lot of kids drawing up crazy flyers, doing provocative performance art, and painting things they're not supposed to. A sort of creative protest. By definition, terrorism is "the use of force against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population or any segment thereof, in the furtherance of political or social objectives." This would be a creative force on society. I mean, isn't that what art is supposed to do?

This could probably get me in trouble.

  • So what did you think of the movie?

  • don't do nothing... oomph. nice double negative there, sting. all the dumb people of america'll never get it. that's okay, you're not for dumb people to listen to.

  • i rather liked the double negative/irony.

what did i think of the movie?  it think it's difficult to separate criticism of the issue surrounding a controversial film like this from actual critical analysis of its craft and content. From a technical standpoint, i liked it. And because it pissed a whole bunch of people off, I like it even more. : )

  • I'd join your coalition in a blink.

...and on a separate note; Massachusetts always reminds me of Chomsky and the Pixies song U-mass. Which is very good.
