  • Hey, I finally finished the mosaic I started in class a few weeks ago.

Not bad for my first try, eh?

It's really neat how different it looks now. I was a little anxious about the grout, since a.) there was more than one color to choose from, each of which could dramatically affect the overall look, and b.) i didn't want to scratch the hell out of the more delicate things i stuck on there.

But i like what i chose.... it looks like beach sand, which is perfect for the ocean / tidewash theme i was going for. My favorite bits are the lady hidden under the bubble and the octopus with the freshwater pearls. There's still a few spots i could go in and clean up, but for the most part I'm all done. Woohoo!

  • WANT.  you have no idea how much i love this.   i too think the octopus is awesome!  and the lady is such a clever surprise.  WANT WANT WANT.  grrrreat job!

  • Love the grout job.  I agree with smarticus - this is great!

  • @Smarticus - hahaha. Well, hold your horses missy... if you want it so bad, there's a chance i might be putting this, and maybe some other new mosaics, up on Etsy ; )

  • @oxymephorous - yaaaay!  i will buy the shit out of that goddam.

  • its beautiful. I was thinking of designing my old car with this style. caulk and stones, and glitter and things...any tips about where you found great deals with the pieces?

  • lovely, lovely, lovely.  i was just going to write:  you should totally put that on etsy!! or a different one that you like, but you know, isn't your most favorite one that you just made.  y'know?  ALSO, i love the sandy theme.  magnifique!

  • I like how the wood showing through looks like ripples.  tres cool.

  • It looks wonderful!  I love the blue and white, the octopus, all of it.

  • @cestmoe - yeah! that bit kinda reminds me how the waves leave those wavy ripples on sandbars at low tide.

  • I really like this!

I've been looking to put a mirror up at work so people stop sneaking up on me.  If you're making more of these, I'm definitly interested.  I like the greens & blues, they're calming for work.

  • Ok, so it sounds like the general consensus is: mosaics just might pay the bills. Duly noted, LOL!

  • Hey, blackdoves might just be on to something.  I remember hubs saying that he wished he had something like a rearview mirror in his cubicle, so he could see if anyone was sneaking up on him.  Cube view mirrors - - or not ?
