Today's my last day in cubicle-hell. I have a little list of things to wrap up before i make my adieus today, including taking advantage of the color laser printer, and snagging some samples of designs i've worked on. There's a lot of things in Blue and Green. Yargh. Despite my loathing, I have picked up some useful information and tricks during my time here. So that's good.
And then onward and upward. my plans for the rest of the week:
Tomorrow morning is the first walk (of many) around Jamaica Pond with Kerri. Our purpose is twofold: to thwart any encroaching fatassery, and have a good reason to get our butts out of bed in the morning at least three times a week. I look forward to having a little routine and hanging out with my girl. Hopefully this will get me motivated to do stuff later in the day.
Thursday night is the big opening night for the new Harry Potter movie, and as much as i love me some HP and swarms of goofy kids in wizard hats (really, i do!), I think i'll pass and see it later. Instead we're going to a Buddhist lantern ceremony in Forest Hills Cemetery, and packing a picnic supper for the evening. I'm thinking I'll make cucumber "sushi". There's rumored to be Taiko drumming, traditional music, and ladies dancing in Kimonos. After sunset they're going to set lanterns afloat on Hibiscus pond, inscribed with the names & messages for the departed. Quite mystical.

On another thursday, we're going to the Sam Adams brewery for an exclusive tour and beer tasting. Hopefully I'll pick up some more information, and malty inspiration, for my first batch of homebrew. And then there's probably a bunch of art-making and Jamaica Plain meandering all in between. I am so cool. I'm gonna make stuff, and learn things. I need a bike. hmm.
And then, wooo, who knows? The whole rest of my exciting life.

don't forget to dance a jig on your way out of the office!!
I thought I'd do a little shimmy and surreptitiously give them the bird on the way out.
The bird shimmy--you should copyright that and make it the official quitting dance.
those lantern ceremonies are always beautiful/inspiring/fun. I like burning money for the dead as well.
The Sam Adams tour is great fun. I got wasted on the free samples there because the tour guide felt like he needed to make it up to us for being an ass--I started asking technical questions (and being a young female--I had just turned 21) he kind of blew me off. Then later asked how I knew so much, and said I helped my sister at her microbrewery--and that if he didn't know the answers it's better to just not know than not answer and pretend like I wasn't there.
He agreed and served us pitchers of beer at the end. And became my newest, temporary friend.
But brewery tours don't offer up much information for first time home-brewers, really. Doesn't mean you shouldn't go and that it isn't a grand time...
enjoy your week!
Oh, we've been to the tour. the sam brewery is literally within walking distance of my home, and you're right, the tour guides are usually young guys who are hardcore beer dorks. We were definitely drunk by noon, and I pocketed some hops last time. hee!
This thing in a couple of weeks is the open house they have every month, where you have to RSVP in advance. We basically get to taste their experiments and pick their brains in a smaller setting, which should be interesting. There's a great marzenbrau coming out in September and i want another whiff of that.
You should set a lantern afloat at the brewery. Just a suggestion.
