For the sake of nostalgia, and a desperate effort to preserve my creative history, i've posted the finished pieces from my senior illustration thesis in the xanga photolog thing. Looking back at my work from five years ago, I can see there's a lot I would have done differently, and a lot that I discovered in-process which still influences my art here and now. It's also pretty much the summation of my 4-year existence in the massart illustration department, and victory among the six more-or-less kickass survivors of that grueling year (we began with twenty). I also completed sixteen more finished pieces than any of my peers, most of 'em being portfolio worthy, and not all of them being entirely half-assed. You all can go look if you want.

  • amazing work! you should be proud of all of that. you have a wonderful gift (plus a shit ton of hard work, yo)

  • Very very awesome, if ya don't mind my saying. At one time I thought I was going to be an artist. Then life happened.

  • Once an artist, always an artist, I say. My dad spent 35 years as an engineer in a boring, unfulfilling job (life happening), and started drawing again when i went to school. Three and a half decades "out of practice" and he could still totally kick my creative ass in chalk pastel.

  • RYC: Whale Rider was Maori themed not Samoan :) New Zealand has a large population of people from other Pacific Islands living in it.
