  • Yes, this is me.....

...and those are Strawberry Shortcake undies. Age three, and already a rampaging vixen.

    • Apparently, Kerri had a hot date!
    • I am going to the cape, to fly kites in the rain and eat at DQ.
    • Ravenswood Zinfandel is oh so good.
    • May I mention grey and orange love?

    • Chickenses tonight? could be.
    • Pineapple pizza at the binnacle tomorrow night? certainly!
    • It's not entirely better, but the fresh air is doing me wonders.
    • Audrey is scared of the thunder. She looks very worried.
    • Housecleaning is on the agenda. Laundry ought to be, too...or not.

  • Rock

I came home at 1am a little shaky after a long ride on the orange line, and opted to wander the long way home in the drizzle over the hill in JP. There was a lot of thought to be had.

As proof of my conniving and vestigial refusal to accept a regular bedtime, we stayed up all night talking and played hookey the next day. It ought to be done once in a while. So over the bridge, and north, past the oceanstrip of revere and the marblehead labyrinth, to the rock quarry by the sea.

We were met by the hole itself, a slickrock lagoon with sheer granite walls and unfathomable depths. Shadows of eels and tadpoles slid along the fractured underwater cliffs, and who knew what slunk around in the deeper murk?? A flock of gulls flapped and splashed at the center, like folded paper cast adrift in a pool, oblivious to everything but themselves, the surface, the air. We thought we might look for the shore, further along.

I felt as if i had found the end of the world, and at the moment the thought crossed my mind, i heard him say just that. There are many things that touch me, and when he says them i often am so moved i can't say a single thing. We leaned against each other and looked out over the sea, wondered about the traffic patterns of comorants, of fishing boats, of ocean currents, barges, and blue islands along the horizon. Maxfield Parrish crossed my mind, and tangled itself with talk of architecture and ecology and stone. I didn't want to go home, because what is home? I think it feels like granite, and salt air, and someone to hold on to at the edge.

This is for a kiss under hieroglyphs, and a snowstorm and fountain, to turntables in the basement and albums pinned to the wall, to chocolate chip cookies in the middle of the night and sleeping until 3 in the afternoon, to orange juice and all other things that come in orange, darkstep and the orb, and letting go.

Do what you love, above all else.

Today i bought fingerpaints. Purple, orange, fuschia, blue, lime green, and yellow. You can imagine the chaos that is about to ensue.

    BWAHA HA HA HA HA!

  • Out and About

I'm up! I can walk, I can sit, I can run, I can roll around in the grass. I can eat Indian food and cucumber ice cream.

Bukhara is apparently the mecca for JP art-kid birthday parties. There was us, and another spiky-haired dark-bespectacled courier bags and punked-out-thrift-store wardrobe crew there last night, reveling in the joys of naan and tamarind curry. Yum.

I sat/perched/alighted gingerly on my seat (not used to chairs..) beside my beloved Bryon and peered down the length of the table at some of my favoritest peeps, who all came out for Marta's grand occasion. Kerri and Teegan were glowing and yabbering in the corner by the window, hemmed in By Nick, who was cracking odd jokes and entertaining Jenna, and Marta etc. Mr. Pearson arrived fashionably late and rambled on about flatbread and whatever else, and the whole thing was entirely fantabulous. I missed my friends so much.

After dinner we inevitably ended up at JP licks, where i found myself eating ice cream and hot fudge between and old love and a new one, who were getting along pretty well. Modest Mouse unites us all. Kerri shared her trauma with me in our own little nook, and Bry petted my knee and pressed his shoulder to mine. Familiarity and comfort, like a secret language. I watched my friends and took in the details of them, translated it, stored it, refilled my reservoirs. I am happy again.

I woke up this morning and added to my little story, which keeps unraveling itself in incongruous threads....there is a Triceratops at the gate to Xanadu, and the Young Architect knows him by name. We shall see what happens.

On another note, the position for my assistant art teacher is open! I've been asked to come on an interview this week...i hope i can do it......this is such a relief. Things will run so much more smoothly, and now i will not be lonely. I want someone young and fun and cool. If anyone is interested, let me know soon....I am also still planning on inviting visiting artists and volunteers into my classroom. I want ideas!! Hooray!

  • ".......'That spider was a big fat creepy liar,' said Oxymephorous, scratching one ear irritably, 'How could the city possibly be behind us?'

I looked over my shoulder one more time, just to make sure.

"Why are you always such a grouchypants?!?' chirped Bird.

    'Bite me!!!' said Oxy. "
